For all you Tumblrs...

Other than Blogger, Tumblr is my internet obsession. I don't have a blog there myself because I can barely keep up with this one, but I still follow a bunch of them.

So if you have a Tumblr, or know about a good one, I would love to see it! Just please don't spam.

And if you're looking for another one to follow, my friend Salinna's is pretty great. :) Just click here.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Always,
Abby Noel

P.S. To all of you bloggers out there- whether you're on Blogger or Tumblr or anything- don't forget to join the Freerice group! Just click here. It's pretty self-explanatory if you haven't been to Freerice already, so no need to worry.

Bittersweet Beach

My friend Salinna and I have decided something- all I need is a boyfriend and my life will basically become Tumblr. (Which is a mainly photo-based blogging platform, if you haven't heard of it.) You know the ones I'm talking about- with constant pictures of clothes, beaches, and other cliche things that you would see in a movie. After we decided that, I had to just be super cliche and take a pic of my Toms on the sand.

One visit to Tumblr and you're pretty much guaranteed to find a picture with either Toms, the beach, or both.
Me and my family are moving soon to a town really close to the beach. We went a few weekends ago to look for houses, and that's where all the pictures were taken. It's so beautiful there! After we were done house hunting, we stopped by the beach. Unfortunately, the water was too cold to swim, but we did dip our feet in the water.

Occasionally I was surprised by a taller wave which resulted in my skirt being soaked by the time we left.

While we were soaking up the last bits of sunlight for the day, we  saw a whole group of dolphins swimming by! I probably sounded like an idiotic tourist to everyone else on the beach when I screamed "DOLPHINS!" at my family continuously- even after they all had already noticed. Leave me alone, okay. I'm a girl. When we see dolphins, we freak out.

I would post the pictures, but they were too far out for you to be able to see.

The little historic district in the town next to us has a bunch of cute little shops that I'll probably end up blowing all my money in the moment we move there. One of my favorites was a clothing boutique that had the most gorgeous clothes I think I've ever seen. They had a mix of vintage-preppy-beaching clothes and I seriously could have stayed in that store for three days.

There was also a big antique store (which if you know me, you know that I could also spend three days, if not three weeks, in any given antique store) Somehow, the moment we walked in, I just knew there was a cat in there. That's right everyone, I've developed a 6th sense- feline detection. It turns out I was right- we turned a corner and there was this beautiful cat that ended up rubbing up on us and not letting us leave the store for a while.

Well I think this wins as the longest post for quite some time. I don't have time to proof read, so forgive me for any sentences that make no sense (there's almost guaranteed to be at least one)

Comment please! Comments, questions, stories from the last time you've been to the beach, anything! I talk at you all enough, you should talk back :)

Abby Noel

*SNORT*

Snorting like a pig will eventually end up hurting you.

In case you're wondering why I would even come to know that, I auditioned for the play "Holka Polka" (which is a fairy tale mash-up) and got the part I wanted. (YAY! *throws confetti in your face*) I'm played Ezi, who is one of the evil stepsisters. I hate to spoil the plot for you, but my sister Dezi and I are turned into pigs. After that, we have to snort after every line. It isn't the most comfortable thing in the world, but we deserve it. We're basically everything you hate about people all stuffed into two sisters. It's quite wonderful, actually.

Well I have to go watch bad reality television. Have a nice day! *SNORT*

Test Yourself Driving While Distracted

I just found an interesting game that you can play by clicking HERE.
 This game was made by the New York Times to show people just how much texting while driving distracts them. It's pretty eye-opening considering how many people think that they are perfectly capable of texting and driving without consequences.

Give it a shot, you might surprise yourself.

Donating using your brain!

Note- The problem with the group link is fixed, yay! And for the one person who had already joined the group, sorry about that, you'll just have to re-join.
~~~~
I've been completely obsessed with this website- Freerice.com
It's a really simple concept- you just pick a category (they have definitions, math, art, history, and a bunch more), answer some questions, and earn donations of rice for every question you get right! If you want to read more about it, you can by clicking HERE
Another neat little feature they have is groups, where people with similar interests can ban together and see how much rice they can donate cumulatively.
 I've made a bloggers group, and I'd love it if you all would join me. Just make an account on Free Rice (it's easy, you can even log in with your facebook account) and join this group- CLICK HERE
I'd love to see all my blogger friends on there working to donate more rice! And while we're at it, why not make some new friends? There's an option in your Free Rice profile to include a link to your blog. Just put up the link and we can find new blogs while fighting against world hunger together! Sounds like a win-win situation to me.
Even if you don't join the group, I invite you to spend a little time trying out the website. It's really easy to do and is a great cause!
Abby Noel
Good Morning, Persephone
Today was quite a lovely spring day. The weather was warm and prompted me to put together an outfit that will probably go down as one of my favorites.
Skirt- Target
Shirt- American Eagle
Necklace & Ribbon- thrifted
~~~

I just finished working on a Greek mythology project for History and I must say, this is some interesting stuff. One of the weirdest (but my favorite) stories is the myth of Persephone. For those of you who don't know, she was the daughter of Demeter, the goddess who controlled the harvest. One day Hades, the god of the underworld, saw how beautiful Persephone was and kidnapped her to be his wife. Demeter was devastated and ignored her job- making sure the crops on earth would grow. Zeus (who was the king of all the gods) found out about this and was worried that all the people would starve, so he forced Hades to allow Persephone to return.
However, because Persephone had eaten four seeds of a pomegranate while in the underworld, she was forced to return for four months out of each year. During those four months, Demeter allows the plants to wither and die, but in the Spring when Persephone returns, Demeter is happy again and the plants flourish.

It's an interesting story, just thought I'd share because it seemed to fit nicely with today's post.

Happy Spring, everyone!

Tonight.....Tonight.....It all began Tonight....

Here are the pictures I promised you!

I might have some more later if I can get them, but these are the only good ones so far.

Just letting you know, I'm re-working the layout on here so it's going to be a bit of a mess for a little while.

I've missed you!

It feels good to be posting again, I have been SOOOOO busy lately I haven't gotten the opportunity to keep up with this. Tonight is the last night of West Side Story, so I'm going to have to be at the school soon but I wanted to just check in with you guys so you know that I'm still alive.

The musical had some hiccups opening night, but we completely redeemed ourselves last night. Everyone in the whole cast were giving each other high-fives back stage and our director was almost in tears during intermission when she came to talk to us. Most of my friends are coming to see it tonight, and I can't wait to give them a good show.

I remember when I first posted that I made ensemble someone anonymous commented that that meant the director didn't really want me. I want to tell you that I realized the ensemble is just as important as any other part. Without us, dance numbers wouldn't be so incredible. The songs wouldn't give the audience chills. And without the free time we had during rehearsal, the set wouldn't be so elaborate and well-made. So to anyone who has that attitude, you're wrong. And to anyone who seems to be "stuck" in an ensemble role, remember you are an important part of the show too.

I'll have a post with pictures from the show as soon as I can. Also, the Fantasy Friday thing I started will resume this Friday.
Always,
Abby Noel
